Lucky you, coming to Lake Tahoe! Tahoe City and West Shore attractions are so diverse that trust us – no one can possibly get bored. Every season offers sites to visit and experiences to have that range from intimate and relaxed to exciting and mind-boggling. For Tahoe City attractions, you have to say that winter, in and of itself, is one of the best (yes, in this neck of the woods, a season can be an attraction). Nordic and alpine skiing, backcountry snowboarding, telemarking, sledding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are here without big resort prices or ambiance.

The snow sports at Homewood Mountain Resort serve as a Tahoe City attraction for both rank beginners and top-ranked ski and board enthusiasts. The numerous trails all have stunning views of Lake Tahoe, located just across the road from base camp. Want more? Advanced skiers and boarders travel to out-of-bounds terrain at West Shore attractions via the snowcat. Once atop Ellis Peak, it is 1,828 vertical feet run to the bottom. For some folks, watching those skilled and brave souls descend is an attraction too!

Get high via travels on tree courses and zip lines at the year-round Tahoe City attraction, Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park off Granlibakken Road. It’s a perfect place for kids, age 5 and older, to use lots of energy.

Time Travel with Tahoe City Attractions

Lake Tahoe history is engaging and creates interesting Tahoe City attractions. By Tahoe City’s Fanny Bridge, named for the derrieres seen hanging over it, is the Gatekeeper’s Museum and Marion Steinbach Indian Basket Museum, renowned for its Native American history especially on the Washoe who have spent thousands of summers here.

Former summer vacation homes of early 20th-century millionaires are now revered Tahoe City attractions. At Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park is the Hellman-Ehrman mansion. Tour the lakefront vacation house for a bit of Lake Tahoe time travel. Farther down Highway 89 find Vikingsholm. Rich in Scandinavian-style architecture, the house sits aside Emerald Bay, one of the most photographed sites in the world.
